Hey, I’m Kris—a software engineer, engineering leader, and mentor. I’ve spent the last two decades building tools, teams, and cultures that center the human experience. From the factory floor to leading platform teams, I’ve lived every layer of the software journey—and now I help others thrive in it.
About Me
Growing up in Holland, Michigan, I fell in love with the natural beauty of the Midwest and the creative possibilities of technology. What started as a hobby—tinkering with code—has become a two-decade-long journey through software engineering, product innovation, and executive leadership.
I believe technology should empower people, not overwhelm them. I build teams and tools that put human experience first, with an emphasis on thoughtful culture, engineering excellence, and continuous growth.
My Journey (So Far)
I didn’t take the traditional path.
I didn’t graduate with a computer science degree. In fact, I was studying medicine when life took a turn. I found myself starting a family young, and quickly starting a new career to support them. When the opportunity came to build internal ERP and eCommerce software, I jumped at it—and never looked back.
From those early days writing code on the shop floor to leading high-performing engineering teams, I’ve learned by doing, by listening, and by learning from both brilliant mentors and difficult leadership. That combination has shaped my approach to building strong, resilient teams and leading with curiosity and compassion.

Outside the Code
I’m a proud dad to MJ and Rylee—my greatest teachers and motivators. They remind me that what we build matters most when it makes someone’s life better.
Outside work, I mentor aspiring technologists, go off-roading in Michigan backwoods, dig into Warhammer lore, and hang out with my cat. I also speak, write, and advise on engineering culture, leadership, and mentorship.
